How we actually review a game

May 16, 2026 · Mikkel Sørensen

People sometimes ask why our reviews take a while to appear. The short answer is that we play the whole game, or enough of it to know how it holds up past the polished opening hours. First impressions lie, especially in mobile games designed to hook you fast.

Every game gets tested on more than one device. We keep a couple of older phones around specifically to see how things run when you don't have the latest hardware, because most players don't. Performance and battery notes come from that testing, not guesswork.

We also track the boring stuff: how the controls feel after your hands get tired, whether the game respects short sessions, and how noisy it gets with notifications and menus. Those details rarely show up in trailers but define daily play.

Only after all that do we settle on a score, and it's a conversation, not a formula. The number is just shorthand — the review text is where the real opinion lives.
